The end of summer is always a time for transition, and this year was especially hectic. I had to finish an internship, move home, which involved packing and a nine-hour drive across 3 states. Then I spent a hectic week at home, catching up on administrative adulting stuff, fixing my car headlights, and seeing friends, before moving two hours back to school to start my senior year! The beginning of the semester included starting two new jobs, taking on my capstone project, hanging out with my best friends who are now my roommates, and kicking off the three clubs I help to run. It’s been crazy and quite fun, but I’m glad to be into a routine. With that context, let’s see how I did with my writing goals, shall we?
Won – 3/6 Goals
Finish editing Runaways – I genuinely don’t know why I put this on the list, when I knew it was too ambitious to complete, haha. I wanted to have it finished before school so I could send it to beta readers, but this month barely counted as summer anyhow. I feel comfortable pushing that self-imposed deadline back a few months so I’m not rushing to finish and putting out a less than satisfactory story.
Blog and IG scheduling – A Sea of Savage Stars went up a few hours late, but it got done!
Read Elantris and finish TMA S5 – I had 11 hours of driving ahead of me, and expected I would do most of the moving myself when I made this to do list, but it turned out that my mom drove with me, so I couldn’t listen to my podcasts and audiobooks. It was nice to have her along, but otherwise, this would be done. I kept up with my Goodreads goal by reading short-stories on the Tor newsletter instead!
Edit Edge of Infinity – Audio editing is extremely time-consuming and requires a quiet place to work and unfortunately, my house is not the best place for that. Now that I’m back on campus, I’ll find a place in the library to work on this.
Do Writeblr summerfest / Summer celebration wrap up – I didn’t consistently participate in summerfest, but I wrote a short story for one of the competitions, completed a bunch of the posts saved in my drafts at the 11th hour, and I finished the two illustrations I promised to do for the contest winners!
Figure out editing for Storge given new scope of the laoche chronicles / refine outline / figure out what I’m doing with the relics – Muahahahahahaha. This has been quite fun since I started living with my friends. I love my roommates because they let me ramble about Laoche for hours but I also am scrambling to get homework done. Wish me luck with this outline!
